Dennis was born on June 16, 1945, to William and Anna (Kroll) Desmond. He grew up in the Scarborough and Old Orchard Beach where he attended local schools. In 1969 he married Linda Hartley, and together they raised three children and shared 48 years of marriage.
Dennis was a hard worker and had many jobs in his life. He worked at Potter’s Furniture in Biddeford, Swenson Granite in Wells, Nike Inc. in Saco, H. A. Mapes in Springvale, and Dead River Oil until his retirement in 2004.
Dennis enjoyed outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, and picking blueberries. He loved going to yard sales and collecting things. He also enjoyed reading, and spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather Harold Randall, a sister Marcia, and brothers Gerald, Paul, John, and William III.
He is survived by his wife Linda, son Patrick, his wife Crystal and their daughters Charlotte and Caroline of Alfred, daughter Christine Bolduc, her husband Robert, and their sons Blake and Ryan of Saco, daughter Angela Legere, her husband Marcel, and their sons Riley and Logan of Sanford, a sister Anna Lanoie of Alfred, brothers Ralph of Sanford and Donald of Saco, many nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.
The family of Dennis Desmond would like to thank the staff at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House. The family will be forever grateful for their care, compassion, and ability to help them all through this most difficult time with dignity and grace.
A period of visitation will be held on Sunday, March 25, 2018, at Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale, from 10 a.m. to noon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, Maine.
