BANGOR — Michael Finn scored four goals, and Glenn Dion two goals and two assists, as St. Joseph’s topped Husson 10-8 Wednesday in men’s lacrosse.

The Monks (1-1) took a 9-4 lead heading into the final quarter.

Husson (0-1) rallied with four goals during the opening 7:29 of the fourth quarter to pull within 9-8 before Tyler Brewster scored for the Monks to regain a two-goal lead with five minutes to play.

Shane Puleo, Dan Cunningham and Cody Sevigny also scored for St. Joe’s. Husson’s Brandon Bosse had four goals.

BATES 18, BABSON 9: Clarke Jones scored five goals to lead the Bobcats (1-1) over Babson (1-1) in Lewiston.

Jones scored three of his goals during a 9-0 first-half run after the Bobcats spotted the Beavers a 1-0 lead in the opening two minutes of play.

Matt Chlastawa added three goals for the Bobcats.

Niall Dillon had a pair of goals for the Beavers.

WOMENS LACROSSE

BATES 21, WELLESLEY 5: Liv Sandford tallied twice as Bates (2-0) took a 3-0 lead during the opening 2:54 of an easy nonconference victory over the Blue (0-1) in Wellesley, Massachusetts.

Sandford opened the scoring at 28:59, scoring the first of back-to-back goals before Katie Allard scored on a free position to make the score 3-0 at 27:06. Dacia Persky scored for the Blue at 26:44, but Bates scored seven of the next eight goals to take a 10-2 lead with 9:53 left before the half.

Allard led the Bobcats with four goals and two assists. Sandford finished with four goals and an assist and Sydney Howard netted three goals.

Teal Otley and Summer Dias added two each for Bates, with Isabelle Paulus, Jillian Futter, Camille Belletete, Margaret Smith, Lila Hutchins and Avery MacMullen scoring.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

(3) XAVIER 84, PROVIDENCE 74: Trevon Bluiett scored 23 points in his final game at the Cintas Center, and the Musketeers (26-4, 14-3) never trailed in beating the Friars (18-12, 9-8) to clinch at least a share of their first Big East championship.

The Musketeers can win it outright by beating DePaul on Saturday and end Villanova’s run of four straight regular-season titles.
