GORHAM — The Southwestern Maine Activities Association Southwesterns track meet was held at the University of Southern Maine on Saturday, and many locals took home hardware as they prepare for next week’s state meet.

GIRLS

Thornton Academy’s Mia Taranko won the junior long jump while Noble’s Nina Tasker won the 55 hurdles. TA’s Noelle Michaud won the senior shot put, while Massabesic’s Kylie Johnson took first in the 600 yard dash. Bekah Robertson of Biddeford won the pole vault competition.

Noble’s relay team would later take first in the 1,600 relay.

TA’s Noelle Conlon finished second in the junior high jump, while teammate Sabria Merrifield took second in the 55 dash.

TA’s Allie Gross later took second in the senior high jump, while Noble’s Taelor Hardy finished second in the shot put. Annie Dong of TA later placed second in the 600 dash.

TA finished the day in second place with 98 points, while Noble took fourth with 96. Scarborough won the meet with 100 points overall.

BOYS

TA’s Dawson Desrosiers won the junior 800 meter run, while Kennebunk’s Andrew Ladd took first in the junior high jump.

Landon Heidrich of TA later won the senior 800 run, while teammate Jason Montano won the senior shot put competition. Massabesic’s Jarrod Hooper won the 600 dash, while TA’s Travis Snyder won the pole vault.

TA’s Isaac Ofielu finished second in the junior 55 dash, while Noble’s C.J. Nicely took second in the junior long jump.

Massabesic’s Hooper finished second in the senior 800 run, while TA’s Snyder placed second in the senior 55 hurdles. Longhao Chen on TA placed second in the senior long jump.

Scarborough won the boys competition with 177 points, while TA took third with 98 and Noble eighth with 43.
