In one sense, Donald Trump is correct in stating that he has done more than any other president in his first year in office. None of his predecessors offended, insulted, lied to or threatened more groups and individuals, countries, races, international organizations and Americans than he has.

In trying to establish his vision of what America should be, he has damaged what for years we, the people, are still struggling to become as a nation: free and open-minded, respectful and caring of others, and decent.
