BIDDEFORD —The Thornton Academy boys swim team topped visiting Greely 79-61 on Saturday, and was led by Eli Steward who broke the school’s 200 yard IM record with a time of 2:06.84. Steward’s older brother Chris held the previous record.

The 200 yard freestyle relay team of Felix Machacek, Joe Vail, Nolan Eisenhaur and Carl Pellerin took home first place, while Machacek later won the 200 yard free.

Joshua Roberts took first in the 50 free as well as the 100 yard fly. Steward also took first in the 100 free, while Eisenhaur won the 500 free. The Trojans finished the individual events strong as Eisenhaur won the 100 yard back and Vail winning the 100 yard back.

The 200 yard freestyle relay team of Felix Machacek, Joe Vail, Nolan Eisenhaur and Roberts took home first place, while Machacek later won the 200 yard free.

Mary Steward would take home first in the 200 IM, while teammate Grace Rocheleau won the backstroke in TA’s loss to Greely.

The team of Steward, Rocheleau, Mariposa Beane and Allison Wormwood would later win the 400 free relay.

Boys Basketball                                            

Wells 54, Kennebunk 49 (2OT)

Matt Sherburne would score a game-high 22 points and lead the Warriors to a double-overtime win over neighbor Kennebunk on Saturday.

The Rams took a 6-point lead into the halftime break, but would be held to just eight points in the final two quarters to force regulation. Sherburne went on to score nine points in the two extra periods, and the Warriors edged the Rams.

Cam Cousins scored nine points in the first quarter and 11 overall for Wells while Christian Saulnier added nine. Kyle Pasieniuk led Kennebunk with 13 points while Cam Lovejoy added 12 and Max Murray 10.

Boys Hockey                                         

Kennebunk 3, MOB 2

After two scoreless periods, the Kennebunk and Massabesic/Old Orchard/Bonny Eagle boys hockey team would combine for five third-period goals on Saturday.

The Rams would get the game-winner from Nate Jewett with just over two minutes left.

Kennebunk went up 2-0 early in the third with goals from Dean Church and Ethan Marsh. MOB would tie things up in the next five minutes with goals from Cam Roy and Tayte Harris.
