STANDISH — The Sanford boys basketball team picked up a hard-fought 52-48 win over Bonny Eagle in a Class AA South showdown on Friday night.
The Spartans, which improved to 3-9, were led by Leyton Bickford with 17 points and Xavier Levine with 13 points.
The Scots (5-6) got 19 points from Zach Maturo.
Thornton Academy 66, Gorham 40
The Trojans would take a 17-point lead in the first period and cruise to a win over Gorham on Friday.
Many Trojans had solid performances, including Payton Jones with a team-high 12 points, Jack Pyzynski with 11 and Andre Hart with eight.
Gray-New Gloucester 55, Wells 53
The Patriots managed to edge out Wells in a tight game on Friday. Matt Sherburne led the Warriors with 21 points while Cam Cousins added 15.
Girls Basketball
Old Orchard Beach 56, North yarmouth academy 34
The Lady Gulls would hit eight 3-pointers on their way to the win on Friday.
OOB (9-2) was led by Emily Greenlee with 13 points and Shani Plante with 12 points. Kaitlyn Cote added eight points and Bri Plante had six points and five assists in the win.
Scarborough 52, Massabesic 27
The visiting Red Storm would get 17 points from Sophie Glidden as they cruised to the win on Friday.
Scarborough (8-3) also got 15 points from Madison Blanche.
McKenzy Ouellette led Massabesic (2-9) with 10 points.
Gorham 45, Thornton Academy 30
Gorham’s Mackenzie Holmes would rack up 26 points and lead the Rams to a win over Thornton on Friday. Alex Hart led TA with 12 points in the loss.
