BIDDEFORD — The Biddeford/Thornton Academy/Wells girls hockey team picked up a 5-2 win over Brunswick on Monday afternoon.

Alaina Keely recorded four goals on the day while Mady Belanger added another.

The Tigers improve to 7-4-1 on the year and jump to third place in the conference.

Girls Basketball                              

Thornton Academy 37, Falmouth 35

The Thornton Academy girl basketball team edged host Falmouth on Monday afternoon.

Amanda Bogardus led the way for TA in the absence of Alex Hart, picking up a game-high 18 points. Elise Hebert also recorded 12 rebounds and 10 points in the win.

Old Orchard Beach 41, Sacopee Valley 28

A big second half would propel the Lady Gulls to a big win over Sacopee Valley on Monday.

Leading by just two points at halftime, OOB would outpace Sacopee Valley 23-13 in the second half to secure the win.

Bri Plante led the way with nine points while Emily Greenlee added eight. Maggie Strohm added 10 rebounds for OOB.

Old Orchard Beach 70, Sacopee Valley 35

The Seagulls cruised to a  big win over Sacopee Valley on Monday afternoon.

OOB would outpace Sacopee Valley 37-17 in the first half to set the tone the rest of the way. Ian Regan led OOB with a game-high 30 points while Dale Lord chipped in 10.

Sanford 56, Cheverus 52

Leyton Bickford would put up a game-high 22 points to lead the Spartans to the win.

Sanford, which improved to 2-8 on the season, would also get 10 points from Xavier Levine.

Owen Burke had 14 points and Matthew Duchaine added 12 for Cheverus.

Boys Hockey                                     

Portland/Deering 4, Massabesic/Old Orchard Beach/Bonny Eagle 2

The visiting Bulldogs would hold off a third period push by MOB to win on Monday afternoon at the University of Southern Maine.

Cam King and Cam Clifford scored in the first to make it 2-0. MOB’s Ajay Cates would score in the second to cut the lead to just 2-1 heading into the third.

Alex Demers scored just 11 seconds into the third to knot things at 2-2, but the Bulldogs would get goals from Walter Lewandowski and Joe Herboldsheimer to secure the win.
