Sokha Khuon

Police in Portland said they do not expect to release more information about the death of a 36-year-old woman inside her Dorothy Street home any time soon.

Police spokesman Lt. Robert Martin said the investigation continues, and police plan to meet next Tuesday to discuss developments, after which more information may be made public.

Police found Sokha Khuon dead in her home Sunday night after a neighbor called 911 to report the sound of gunshots. Two of Khuon’s children were found safe outside. A third child, who is 18 and lives on her own, was not in the home at the time of her mother’s death.

Martin said Wednesday morning that investigators have kept the crime scene under their control, and he did not offer any time frame for when the home would be released back to the family.

Khuon lived with her husband, Anthony Leng, 40, who has worked as a maintenance man for the Portland Housing Authority since 2006, and their two children, age 10 and 15.

No one has been arrested, and police are not releasing the cause and manner of Khuon’s death.

Officers have also not released information about whether Leng was home that night, whether he’d been interviewed or if he is considered a suspect. Neighbors said Leng is an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman who owns firearms.

Neighbors said they were concerned for Leng, who was described widely as gregarious, outgoing and helpful, but who had not been seen since Sunday, when police cordoned off the small block between Hicks and Beaumont streets.
