Alice de Mauriac’s solo show, “Destinations and Detours,” is energizing the walls of the Fellowship Gallery at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Brunswick.

The evocative, abstract paintings fill the contemporary space with subtle harmonies and glowing color. Thoughtfully organized interactions between minimal and maximal paintings, these works convey a sense of reflective calm as well as robust vitality.

A New Englander by birth, de Mauriac lived abroad in Europe and the Middle East after her studies at Hamilton College in New York. She currently resides at Pemaquid Point in New Harbor.

She has exhibited in various galleries and museum shows in New York State and is currently active at River Arts in Damariscotta, Boothbay Region Art Foundation in Boothbay Harbor and is a member of the Saltwater Artists Gallery in New Harbor.

An artist’s reception will take place from 2-4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, in the Fellowship Gallery.

“Destinations and Detours” can be seen at the Unitarian Universalist Church, located at1 Middle St., through Jan. 24. The Fellowship Gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday.
