A New Jersey man was arrested on drug charges on the Maine Turnpike early Thursday morning after state police stopped his car for a traffic violation.

Irvin Philmore, 50, of Fort Lee, New Jersey, was arrested in York after police stopped him around 2:30 a.m., said Steve McCausland, spokesman for the state police, in a news release.

Police used a drug-sniffing dog to find 72 grams of cocaine and 15 grams of heroin in Philmore’s vehicle, McCausland said. Philmore was charged with aggravated trafficking in drugs and taken to the York County Jail, where his bail was set at $50,000 cash.
