BIDDEFORD — Fernand L Brochu, 91, of Biddeford died Wednesday Oct. 11, 2017 at home with his loved ones by his side. Husband of Alandine (Marquis) Brochu of 70 years.

He was born May 25, 1926 to the late Alphonse and Bertha (Gilbert) Brochu. He was educated in the local schools.

He proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. Fernand worked as a machinist for 47 years retiring in 1990 from Saco Defense.

He belonged to the Biddeford American Legion Post 26, and enjoyed woodworking. He loved his home and swimming pool, he was a dedicated care giver of his wife for 20 years.

Fernand is survived by his wife Alandine of Biddeford; daughter Fernande Poisson (Fran) of Waterboro; brother Donald Brochu and his wife Estella of Saco; sister Mrs. Ralph (Rachel) Croteau of Biddeford; grandchildren Jason Poisson of Waterboro, and Tricia (Steve) Bodge of Richmand; great-granddaughter Kaylee; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful cat Baby.

He was preceeded in death by his brother Wilfred Brochu.

The family would like to thank the staff at Gosnell Hospice and nurses, also the passionate caregivers who provided care of him at home, Judy, Linda, Tom, Laureate and Carmen.

Hope Memorial Chapel 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005, has been entrusted with arrangements. Burial will take place on Friday Oct. 13 at 10 a.m. with Full Military Honors in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford.
