WESTBROOK — The Biddeford field hockey team continued its hot streak on Tuesday with a 4-3 overtime win over host Westbrook in a Class A South showdown.

Westbrook opened the game with a score from Morgan LeBeau to take a 1-0 lead. Biddeford answered just one minute later with a score from Peyton McKeown.

The host Blue Blazes took a 2-1 lead into halftime when they got a goal from LeBeau, who received an assist from sister Maddy LeBeau.

Biddeford tied the game early in the second half with a score from Sarrah Marcotte, who used an assist from Hailey Allen to make it 2-2.

With just 1:48 remaining in regulation, Morgan LeBeau put Westbrook up 3-2 with her third goal of the game. 

McKeown answered right back for the visiting Tigers as she scored with 37 seconds left to send the game to overtime.

In the extra frame, McKeown would step up for the Tigers again as she scored the game-winner with 3:46 left in the first OT.

Biddeford goalie Taylor Wildes finished with six saves, while Westbrook’s Kimmy Goddard had 10 saves.

The Tigers improved to 11-2 on the season and are currently in fourth place in the loaded Class A South. Biddeford will close out the season with a home game against Marshwood today at 4 p.m.

Massabesic 4, Marshwood 1

The Mustangs came out on fire as they scored three goals in a nine-minute stretch to take control on Tuesday.

Massabesic is now 12-1 on the season and will finish out the regular season with a showdown with Scarborough (12-1) at 7 p.m. tonight.

Emma Rutledge, Camryn Champlin and Emma Snyder scored the first three goals for the Mustangs, who got assists from Kaylee St. Laurent and Champlin in that period.

In the second period, Champlin would send a pass to Rutledge who scored to make it a 4-0 lead.

Marshwood got a score from Leah Glidden with 5:03 left to avoid the shutout.

Sanford 3, Gorham 2, OT

Kallee Turner and Kelli Ames scored in regulation for the Spartans, who got the game-winning goal from Turner off an assist from Phoebe Joy just 48 seconds into overtime.

Sanford is now 6-7 on the season and in ninth place in the playoff standings. The Spartans will visit Falmouth for their regular-season finale on Thursday.

Thornton Academy 1, Falmouth 0

Tied at 0-0 with 1:22 remaining in overtime, Thornton Academy would get the game-winner from Lily Stark off a pass from Claire Decker to push past Falmouth on Tuesday.

Freshman goalie Madison Vachon made her only two saves in overtime for TA.

Girls Soccer

Traip Academy 2, Old Orchard Beach 1

OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Neither team was able to crack the scoreboard until OOB’s Myah Hebert scored with 25 minutes to go. Unfortunately for the Lady Gulls, Traip would tie the game just five minutes later on a Kathleen McPherson goal.

Traip took the lead for good on a score from Kiki Huntress.

OOK goalie Kaitlyn Cote had just one save, while Traip’s Sommer Huntress stopped five shots.
