SANFORD — The Sanford football team won its third straight game with a big 48-6 win over visiting Bangor on Friday night at Cobb Stadium.

Sanford finished the day with an impressive 365 yards on the ground, as the rushing game set the tone early in the blowout win.

Senior captain Michael Lunny got the Spartans on the board early with a 5-yard rushing touchdown, followed by a 7-yard score by James Meggison. After a failed PAT attempt, Lunny would rush for a successful 2-point conversion to put the Spartans ahead 14-0.

Quarterback Jordan Giroux would later connect with Ryan Connarton on a 24-yard score, while Meggison added his second rushing touchdown to give Sanford the 28-6 advantage at half.

Caleb Saucier and Adrian Brooks went on to score rushing touchdowns of their own in the second half, while Ryley Bougie returned an interception 18 yards for a touchdown to close out the win.

Sanford improves to 3-2 on the year while Bangor drops to 0-5.

Sanford will travel to take on South Portland next Friday night.

Edward Little 36, Massabesic 0

The visiting Edward Little football team cruised to a 36-0 shutout over Massabesic on Friday.

The Eddies jumped out to an early 15-0 lead in the first quarter. The Mustangs had no answer in the second, as Edward Little extend its lead to 28-0 at the halftime break.

The Mustangs defense solidified in the second half, but the offense fell flat as Edward Little secured the 36-0 win.

Madison/Carrabec 54, Old Orchard Beach 16

After coming off a heartbreaking loss to defending Class C champion Wells last Friday, Madison/Carrabec stormed back to beat visiting Old Orchard Beach 54-16 in a high-scoring affair.

Rudy Mago scored a touchdown and a 2-point conversion for OOB, while Chandler Payea scored while Jacob Methot added another 2-point conversion.

Old Orchard Beach struggled on the road, and takes a 3-2 record back to the beach.
