TOPSHAM — United Baptist Church, located at 1 Elm St., Topsham, welcomes the Maranatha Band from the Dominican Republic in concert on Saturday evening, Sept. 9, at 7 p.m.
United Baptist along with other area churches and individuals have been supporting the mission project in LaRomana, Dominican Republic for more than 20 years. The mission has been building a hospital and providing medical help to the local people and the sugar cane workers and families out in the fields.
Both Dominicans and Haitians receive modern health care at the Good Samaritan Hospital, which is fully operational with expansion projects continuing.
People who would not have medical assistance otherwise are seen and treated.
The Maranatha Band is the praise band at the local church — Maranatha Ministries. They tour the U.S. in the late summer/early fall to thank the people who support them and to raise funds for hospital projects.
There will be a free-will offering received.
