SACO — Born Feb. 10, 1921, in Eastport, Maine, Leonard “Lenny” Hooper 96, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones, on Aug. 20, 2017, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House.

“Absent from the body and present with the Lord.”

Lenny was a man devoted to his family and his church.

He was preceded in death by Faye, his wife of 58 years.

He is survived by: his daughters, Cheryl Flood (Del), Lorna Doyle (Sidney) and Kathy Hooper; his grandchildren, Christine Jones (Reid), Jeremy Bourque (Suzanne), Erica Doyle and Brian Doyle (Chelsea); and great-grandchildren, Cameron, Raven and Remington. Lenny leaves behind many nieces and nephews, his lifelong friend Hazel Harris, and many others who will miss him dearly.

A memorial service with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017, at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 415 U.S. Route 1, Scarborough. Private family burial will take place at Hillside Cemetery in Eastport. Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home, 365 Main St., Saco, has been entrusted with the arrangements. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Cornerstone Baptist Church or Gosnell Memorial Hospice House.
