BRUNSWICK
The 13th annual Peace Fair will be held on the Brunswick Town Mall on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The fair is sponsored by the Greater Brunswick PeaceWorks organization.
The theme for this year’s Peace Fair is “Peace and Justice in a World of Conflict,” and its musical theme is “We Are the World.”
The Peace Fair provides a day of informational displays and activities and aims to promote a society that leaves dominance and violence behind in favor of compassion and cooperation.
Various local organizations whose work promotes peace and caring for those in need will participate in the fair. Informational displays, other interactive activities such as petition signing and letter writing as well as presentations will be set up in different tents around a central conversation tent.
Presentations are as follows:
• Univeralist Unitarian Church Brunswick — Creating an Eco-Friendly Yard for Polllinators
• Shambhala Meditation Center — Meditation
• Maine War Tax Resistance Resource Center — War Tax Resistance
• Pax Christi Maine — Importance and Effectiveness of Non-Violence
• Maine Clean Elections — Clean Elections
• Global Network Against Weapons — Bath Iron Works Conversion and Nuclear Power In Space
• Maine All Care and Southern Maine Workers Center — The Human Right To Healthcare
• Restorative Justice Institute — ircle Dialogue On Peace and Restorative Justice
There will also be live music in a tent adjacent to the gazebo.
Admission to the fair is free to all. Refreshments will be available for sale, provided by local food vendors.
