The Merrymeeting Arts Center has announced its Tenth Anniversary Celebration Event to be held on Saturday from 4-6 p.m. at MAC’s gallery and art studio, 9 Main St., Bowdoinham.

The event will include the opening of a new exhibit, “Wood and Whimsy,” featuring Bowdoinham-area woodworkers, echoing MAC’s first exhibit 10 years ago that also featured woodworkers. The current retrospective exhibit, “Toymaker to Sculptor: Bryce’s Evolution,” will also be on display.

The event will include tours of the recently refurbished art studio space where art classes, clay making and drop-in art sessions will be available for people of all ages. MAC invites everyone to attend the event and to share their ideas for future directions for the center. Light summer refreshments will be available, the event is free and open to all and donations are welcome to help support MAC’s future.

MAC exhibits highlighting art of all media, education classes for children and adults, drop in pottery sessions on Saturday mornings, and community wide events such as the Ice and Smelt Festival have engaged artisans, art lovers, and art learners through the years. These activities have largely been supported through the efforts of volunteers and through grants, donations, and Bowdoinham town budget contributions.
