CAPE ELIZABETH — Brendan Tinsman was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the eighth inning, giving Cape Elizabeth a 2-1 win over Greely in a Western Maine Conference baseball game Monday.
Greely (8-5) took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on an RBI single by Luke Miller. Cape Elizabeth (7-4) tied it in the bottom of the second on an RBI single by Carson Sullivan.
Marshall Peterson pitched seven innings for Cape, allowing two hits and striking out nine. Greely has lost four straight.
WELLS 5, FREEPORT 5: Andrew Skeats of Wells (8-4-1) lined a two-out, RBI single in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings in a game that ended as an eight-inning tie against Freeport (3-9-1) in Wells.
Tyler Bridge singled, stole second and advanced to third on an infield single by Matt Tufts before scoring on Skeats’ hit.
The Falcons took a 5-4 lead with two runs in the top of the seventh, on singles by Jack Sawicki and Toby Holt and a double by Spencer Morse.
YORK 14, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 7: Thomas Carr hit a three-run double during a seven-run sixth inning as the Wildcats (10-3) beat the Patriots (5-8) at York.
Carr finished with a single and two doubles, and Christopher Neilson had four hits and scored four times for York. Andrew Rodrigues and Trevor LaBonte each added two hits.
John Villanueva had three hits and two RBI for the Patriots.
SACOPEE VALLEY 5, POLAND 4: Peter Cates hit a fielder’s choice grounder that drove in Macaleb Reinhard in the seventh inning, lifting the Hawks (6-7) over the Knights (3-10) in Hiram.
Dylan Miner hit a two-run homer to put Sacopee Valley ahead 4-3 in the sixth. Poland scored on a passed ball in the top of the seventh.
OCEANSIDE 10, MORSE 4: Titus Kaewthong hit a two-run single during a six-run second inning as the Mariners (7-5) beat the Shipbuilders (9-4) in Rockland.
Colby Dorr drove in two runs with a single and a double, and Michael Norton Jr. added two hits and an RBI.
Parker Onorato had two hits and scored a run for Morse.
SOFTBALL
CAPE ELIZABETH 4, GREELY 3: Elena Keller tripled home Grace Carignan and scored the go-ahead run on an overthrow in the fourth inning as the Capers (6-5) edged the Rangers (7-6), giving Coach Joe Henrikson his 250th victory.
Jess Robicheaw pitched a one-hitter for the Capers, striking out eight.
SCARBOROUGH 19, WESTBROOK 1: Lilly Volk and Chloe Griffin each hit home runs in the second inning and the Red Storm (12-0) cruised past the Blue Blazes (2-11) in five innings at Scarborough.
Volk’s solo shot and Griffin’s three-run blast gave Scarborough a 6-1 lead. Abbie Murrell added three RBI.
NOBLE 6, CHEVERUS/NYA 1: Raegan Kelly struck out eight in a three-hitter to lead the Knights (11-2) over the Stags (0-14) in Portland.
Kelsey Lessard hit an RBI triple and a single for Noble.
SACOPEE VALLEY 15, POLAND 8: Brynn Hink doubled home two runs during a five-run first inning that started the Hawks (9-4) on their way to a win over Poland (5-9) in Hiram.
Grace Sanborn led Sacopee’s 13-hit attack with four hits and four RBI. Brenna Humphrey and Hink each drove home three runs.
Madison Simard had three of Poland’s seven hits.
LINCOLN ACADEMY 6, ERSKINE ACADEMY 5: Anna Hatch and Kortney McKenna homered as Lincoln (2-10) rallied from a 5-1 deficit to defeat Erskine (5-9) in Newcastle.
Arianna Gervais and Lexi Hartford scored the tying and go-ahead runs on passed balls in the sixth.
OCEANSIDE 4, MORSE 2: Kalli Grover doubled home Morgan Heal and then scored on Casey Pine’s homer in the fifth inning as the Mariners (10-2) rallied past the Shipbuilders (8-4) in Rockland.
GIRLS’ LACROSSE
WINDHAM 14, SOUTH PORTLAND 11: Mya Mannette scored six goals and Belle Skvorak had three goals and two assists as the Eagles (8-2) beat the Red Riots (4-6) in South Portland.
South Portland goal six goals and two assists from Jena Leckie and four goals and an assist from Kaya Backman.
YARMOUTH 9, GREELY 3: Eva Then scored three goals in the second half as the Clippers (9-0) pulled away from the Rangers (5-5) in Yarmouth.
MORSE 21, LINCOLN ACADEMY 5: Emily Martin scored six goals and Paige Daigle had three goals and two assists as the Shipbuilders (8-2) downed the Eagles (2-9) in Bath.
Lucy Williams scored three goals for Lincoln.
