A Hermon woman has pleaded guilty to issuing fraudulent postal money orders.
Federal prosecutors said Allison Pluard, 30, worked at C&K Variety, which is a contract postal unit in Hermon. They said that between September and November last year, she bought low-denomination postal money orders from the store’s postal unit, but imprinted them with values up to $1,000. The total amount involved is more than $4,200, postal inspectors said.
Pluard confessed when confronted by inspectors. She pleaded guilty Monday in U.S. District Court in Bangor.
Pluard faces up to five years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine and will be sentenced at a later date.
