
He was born May 8, 1946, in Biddeford, a son of Wilfred and Rita (Valliere) Roy. He was educated locally, graduating from St. Louis High School in the Class of 1965.
After high school, he studied mechanical engineering in Boston. He worked as an engineer with Shape for several years. He also owned and operated Dick’s Small Engine in Biddeford, worked as an undercover narcotics officer in Lewiston, and most recently had been employed for 15 years at Home Depot where he managed the tool rental department.
As a young man he had been a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and camping, music and dancing, but he valued most the time spent with his family and friends.
On April 29, 2016, he married Connie Nightingale, his companion and partner of 28 years.
Dick was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by: his wife, Connie Roy; his mother, Rita Roy; a daughter, Stacy De La Torre, her husband, Jose, and their children, Xavier and Katarina De La Torre, all of Biddeford; a son, Eric Perry and children, Gabriella and Carter of Lyman.
Visiting hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2017 at Hope Memorial Chapel 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005. A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 11 at the funeral home.
