DAMARISCOTTA

River Arts in Damariscotta is inviting artists throughout Maine to submit artwork for its upcoming juried exhibition, “Think Spring.” Artists may submit up to three works in any medium — representational or abstract.

The juror for the “Think Spring” exhibition will be Andres A. Verzosa, former owner and director of Aucocisco Galleries in Portland, Maine. Verzosa grew up in Portland, attended both the University of Maine and Maine College of Art.

Artists may submit up to three works for an entry fee of $15 for members and $20 for nonmembers. Artists will be notified by email or phone of the juror’s decision. Submissions may not have been shown at River Arts previously. Entry forms are available online at riverartsme.org and at the gallery, at 241 U.S. Route 1 in Damariscotta, when submitting. All work entered must be for sale.

Work can be delivered anytime during gallery hours until the deadline Saturday, March 11 at 4 p.m. An opening reception will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, March 17.

Queries and requests may be directed to River Arts at (207) 563- 1507 or by email at info@riverartsme.org. River Arts is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. River Arts is closed on Mondays. The gallery is located at 241 U.S. Route 1 in Damariscotta.

Submission guidelines:

• Wall-hung work size maximum is 60 inches in height, 42 inches in width.

• For safety reasons, Plexiglass or other non-glass options should be used.

• All works should be wired securely with picture wire — not floral wire, string or fishing line.

• Work must be presentation ready.

• All works must be labeled with title and artist’s name on the back.

• Framing is encouraged.

• Table top frames do not hang well — it is recommended that artists use standard wall frames complete with picture wire.
