He was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, on Sept. 10, 1924, became a Franciscan on Aug. 13, 1948, and was ordained on June 20, 1954. After his seminary days and studies, he was stationed in Kennebunk from 1956 to 1969, St. George’s parish in Rochester, New York, from 1973 to 1979, and from 1985 to 2000, he administered the Franciscan Guest House in Kennebunk.
Father Gabriel is survived by a nephew and a niece.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 8a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, at St. Anthony’s Monastery, 28 Beach Ave., Kennebunk. Burial will be 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, 2017, in St. John’s Cemetery, Brooklyn-Queens, New York.
