BOSTON — Clayton Keller scored a short-handed goal in the first period and assisted on the clincher in the third Saturday night as Boston University defeated Maine 3-1 in a Hockey East game.
Patrick Harper also scored for BU (16-5-2, 9-2-2) to make it 2-0 in the second period.
Blaine Byron pulled the Black Bears (8-12-3, 2-9-1) within 2-1 after six minutes of the third period.
Jake Oettinger made 26 saves for the Terriers. Rob McGovern had 34 saves for Maine.
MIDDLEBURY 5, BOWDOIN 1: The Panthers (1-13-2, 1-9 NESCAC) scored four goals in the second period and beat the Polar Bears (7-10, 4-8) in Middlebury, Vermont.
Thomas Dunleavy scored for Bowdoin from Cody Todesco and Spencer Antunez.
COLBY 3, WILLIAMS 3: Geoff Sullivan scored twice for the Mules (7-4-4, 6-3-3 NESCAC) against the Ephs (8-5-3, 5-2-3) at Williamstown, Massachusetts.
Nick O’Connor also scored for Colby, making it 1-0 after 16:14 from Mark Leprine.
UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 4, ENDICOTT 3: Ryan Bloom scored with 3.3 seconds left in overtime to lift the Nor’easters (8-3-2, 5-4-2 Commonwealth Coast) over the 12th-ranked Gulls (12-3-2, 6-3-1) at Beverly, Massachusetts.
Brady Fleurent, Trevor Fleurent and Tucker Ross also scored for UNE.
SOUTHERN MAINE 0, DANIEL WEBSTER 0: Anthony D’Urso stymied USM (6-10-2), making 62 saves for the Eagles (1-16-1) at Nashua, New Hampshire.
Michael Royer of USM turned away 11 shots.
BASKETBALL
WESLEYAN 67, BATES 64: Harry Rafferty hit a 3-pointer with 53 seconds left to lift 24th-ranked Wesleyan (15-4, 3-3 NESCAC) over Bates (12-6, 3-3) at Lewiston.
Marcus Delpeche scored 16 points, Malcolm Delpeche had 15 and Jerome Darling added 11 for Bates.
SALVE REGINA 70, UNE 62: Rodney Morton scored 20 points and the Hawks (5-11, 3-7 Commonwealth Coast) ended the game on a 20-10 run to beat the Nor’easters (5-12, 3-7) at Newport, Rhode Island.
UNE led 33-28 at halftime behind 10 points from Gavin Dibble, who finished with 17. Drew Coveney and Jean-Luc Parker each added 12 for UNE, which led 52-50 with 8:37 left.
AMHERST 81, COLBY 67: Johnny McCarthy had 19 points and eight rebounds, and Amherst (12-4, 3-2 NESCAC) went on a 9-0 midway through the second half to beat the visiting Mules (7-9, 0-5).
Patrick Stewart scored 23 points on 9-of-16 shooting to lead the Mules. Reserve Maximillian Steiner added eight points.
EASTERN CONNECTICUT STATE 75, SOUTHERN MAINE 47: Tarchee Brown scored 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds as the Warriors (7-0, 13-5 Little East) downed Southern Maine (1-6, 6-11) at Willimantic, Connecticut.
Christian McCue scored 19 points for USM.
ST. JOSEPH’S 83, LASELL 80: Leading by 23 at the half, the Monks (9-8, 6-4 Great Northeast Athletic) withstood a furious rally by the Lasers (10-7, 7-3) at Newton, Massachusetts.
John Crawley led the Monks with 18 points, shooting 4 of 6 on 3-pointers.
TRINITY 71, BOWDOIN 53: Ed Ogundeko sank three field goals during a 19-0 run that gave the Bantams (12-6) early control of their game against Bowdoin (9-8) in Hartford, Connecticut.
Jack Simonds hit a jumper and Blake Gordon made a layup to give the Polar Bears an opening 4-0 lead. But Ogundeko drove to the basket to begin the surge that all but put the game away.
SOUTHERN MAINE COMMUNITY COLLEGE 85, UMAINE-MACHIAS 57: John Morgan scored 25 points and the SeaWolves (16-4, 9-2 Yankee Small College) led 38-20 at halftime on their way to a win over the Clippers (6-6, 6-3) in Machias.
Dylan Silvestri added 15 points and 11 rebounds for the SeaWolves.

(14) ARIZONA 96, (3) UCLA 85: Kobi Simmons scored 20 points and Arizona (18-2, 7-0) contained UCLA (19-2, 6-2), the top-rated offense in the Pac-12, at Tucson, Arizona.
(5) KENTUCKY 85, (24) SOUTH CAROLINA 69: Malik Monk scored 27 points, Bam Adebayo added 18 and Kentucky (17-2, 5-1 SEC) overcame an ankle injury to starting guard De’Aaron Fox to beat South Carolina (15-4, 5-1) at Lexington, Kentucky, and take over first place in the Southeastern Conference.
MARQUETTE 102, (7) CREIGHTON 94: Katin Reinhardt scored 17 of his season-high 21 points in the first half, and Marquette (13-6, 3-3 Big East) picked up its first Big East road win by beating Creighton (18-2, 5-2) at Omaha, Nebraska.
KANSAS STATE 80, (7) WEST VIRGINIA 75: Kamau Stokes and Barry Brown each scored 13 points to help Kansas State (15-4, 4-3 Big 12) rally past West Virginia (15-4, 4-3) at Manhattan, Kansas.
(9) NORTH CAROLINA 90, BOSTON COLLEGE 82: Kennedy Meeks scored 20 points with nine rebounds and Justin Jackson scored 22 points for visiting North Carolina (18-3, 6-1 ACC) against Boston College (9-11, 2-5).
(10) FLORIDA STATE 73, (12) LOUISVILLE 68: Jonathan Isaac and Dwayne Bacon each scored 16 points, and Florida State (18-2, 6-1 Atlantic Coast) held off Louisville (16-4, 4-3) at Tallahassee, Florida.

(17) WISCONSIN 78, MINNESOTA 76: Ethan Happ scored a career-high 28 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Wisconsin (16-3, 5-1 Big Ten) to an overtime victory over Minnesota (15-5, 3-4) at Minneapolis.
VANDERBILT 68, (19) FLORIDA 66: Matthew Fisher-Davis had 19 points, Nolan Cressler came up big in the final minute and Vanderbilt (9-10, 3-4 Southeastern) upset Florida (14-5, 5-2) at Gainesville, Florida.
