Violet was born Oct. 5, 1931 in Biddeford, Maine. She was the cherished daughter of the late Norman L. and Rose (Blais) Cartier. Violet graduated with the Class of 1949 from St. Andre High School in Biddeford. Not long after high school, she married the love of her life, the late Norman A. Sayer. Violet and her husband eventually settled in Lawrence to raise a family. She worked for many years for the Internal Revenue Service in Andover as a data entry specialist. Violet had a very creative flair in which she enjoyed doing a multitude of crafts and knitting. She enjoyed many summers with her loving family at Hills Beach in Biddeford, Maine. Later in life, Violet enjoyed staying fit and healthy by swimming and participating in water aerobics. Violet was the matriarch of her family and she touched many lives.
Violet was the devoted mother to her children; her son, Robert Sayer, and his wife, Claudia, of Chester, New Hampshire, her son Donald M. Sayer of New York, New York, her daughter, Diane P. Carrier and her husband, Gilles, of Methuen, Massachusetts and her daughter Nancy A. Ataide and her husband Edwin of Plaistow, New Hampshire. She was the loving grandmother to Heather and Chris, Stacy and Steve, Nicole, Melanie and Jody, and Rachael. Violet was the cherished great-grandmother to Ella, Joseph, Ian, Abram, Joey, and Mila. She was the cherished sister to Patricia Bolduc of California, Rose Helene Fecteau of Maryland and Betty Garand of Biddeford, Maine. Additionally, Violet is also missed by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in death by her son, Michael L. Sayer.

Visitation for Violet will be held Friday, Jan. 13, 2017 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St., Methuen, MA. Friends and relatives are cordially invited. A funeral service will immediately follow visitation. Interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery, 130 North Lowell Street, Methuen, MA.
