A Biddeford man accused of sexually abusing a woman for years has been indicted on 29 counts of gross sexual assault.

A York County grand jury handed down the indictment of Ralph Miller on Thursday.

The alleged assaults occurred from 2009 to 2011 and authorities said at the time of his arrest in March that because of the statute of limitations, they were only able to charge him with Class B crimes, rather than the more serious Class A crimes. Class A crimes are punishable by up to 30 years in prison and fines of up to $50,000; Class B crimes carry a penalty of up to 10 years in prison and fines of up to $20,000.

Biddeford Police Chief Roger Beaupre said at the time of Miller’s arrest that detectives from his department investigated the case for more than a month. Authorities said Miller is accused of sexually abusing a young women for years, dating back to when she was a minor.
