BIDDEFORD — Marie Jeanne Lamontagne, 90, of Biddeford, died Monday, Jan. 2, 2017 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.
She was born Feb., 26, 1926, in Biddeford, a daughter of Rodolphe and Lucienne (Marcotte) Payheur, and was educated in Biddeford schools.
As a young woman, she worked in the Bates and Pepperell mills leaving there to raise her children. She continued to work from her home as a seamstress.
On Sept. 5, 1959, she married George “Pete” Lamontagne in St. Andre Church.
She enjoyed sewing and her work as a seamstress.
Marie was preceded in death by: her husband, Pete, on March 8, 1999; her daughter, Nancy Laverriere in 2007; step-daughter, Joan Cadorette, in 2009; sister, Rena Cote in 2003; and a step-grandson, William Goulet.
Surviving are: a daughter, Judy Lamontagne of Biddeford; a step-son, George “Pete” Lamontagne of Biddeford; a brother, Robert Payheur of Biddeford; three sisters, Irene Morris of North Berwick, Claire Mondville of Waterboro, and Rita Milliken of Biddeford; one grandchild; five step-grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be 4-6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, at Hope Memorial Chapel 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005. A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford.
