AUBURN — Darby Shea scored 17 of his game-high 25 points in the second half, Wol Maiwen scored 13 of his 15 points in the fourth quarter, and unbeaten Edward Little beat Portland 76-70 in a Class AA North boys’ basketball game Thursday night, dealing the Bulldogs their first loss.
Shea scored seven straight points in the final two minutes of the third quarter to give the Red Eddies (5-0) a 53-46 lead.
Portland (4-1) opened the fourth with a 13-6 run, with seven points coming from Griffin Foley, to tie the game at 59.
Maiwen put Edward Little ahead for good with a three-point play, then broke away for a dunk, giving the Eddies a 64-59 lead with 3:24 remaining.
Terion Moss scored 18 points for the Bulldogs. Foley had 17 points, and Charles Lyall added 16 points and 14 rebounds.
SOUTH PORTLAND 82, SCARBOROUGH 61: Noah Malone scored 20 points to lead five players in double figures for the Red Riots (4-1) as they defeated the Red Storm (0-5) in South Portland.
Ruay Bol and Ansel Stilley each scored 12 points for South Portland. Edward Buckley added 11 and Moses Oreste 10.
Nicholas Fiorillo led Scarborough with 20 points. Emmett Peoples added 19, hitting five 3-pointers.
THORNTON ACADEMY 82, NOBLE 53: Austin Boudreau scored 15 points on five 3-pointers and the Golden Trojans (5-0) cruised past the Knights (0-5) at Saco.
John Fogg added 14 points and eight rebounds, while Evan Christensen chipped in with 13 points for the Trojans, who outscored Noble 31-11 in the third quarter.
Brandon Davis scored 19 points to lead Noble. Britton Study added 17.
WELLS 60, LINCOLN ACADEMY 56: Owen Berry scored 16 points, Deandre Woods added 12 points and eight rebounds, and the Warriors (4-0) withstood a late rally by the Eagles (2-3) at Wells.
Cody Tozier scored 12 of his 29 points in the fourth quarter as Lincoln Academy tried to erase a 52-37 deficit.
YORK 62, BIDDEFORD 47: Trevor LaBonte scored 11 of his 25 points in the third quarter as the Wildcats (4-1) pulled away from the Tigers (2-3) at York.
Jackson McCarty added 12 points for York.
Austin Dutremble led Biddeford with 12 points. DeSean Cromwell tossed in 11.
MASSABESIC 69, KENNEBUNK 54: Alex Schepis scored 21 points and the Mustangs (1-4) used a 20-3 run in the third to beat the Rams (3-2) at Kennebunk.
Ethan Roy scored 14 points for Massabesic. Isaac DesVergnes added 13.
Cameron Lovejoy scored 24 points, going 11 of 12 from the line, for Kennebunk.
YARMOUTH 56, SACOPEE VALLEY 31: The Clippers (5-1) held a 52-18 advantage at the half and easily defeated the Hawks (0-5) in South Hiram.
Gibson Harnett led the Clippers with 11 points. Brandon Sloan scored 10 points for the Hawks.
A.R. GOULD 80, GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 55: Tyrese Collins had 26 points, including six 3-pointers, and the Bears (4-0) pulled away from the Lions (1-4) at South Portland.
Gage Barton added 15 points for A.R. Gould, while Ethan Spaulding led Greater Portland Christian with 20.
CAPE ELIZABETH 64, WESTBROOK 55: Finn Bowe scored 33 points and went 14 of 14 from the line to lead the Capers (2-2) at Westbrook (2-2).
Marshall Peterson added nine points for the Capers, hitting two 3-pointers.
Zacari Manoogian led Westbrook with 21 points.
BOOTHBAY REGION 62, MONMOUTH ACADEMY 56: Jacob Leonard scored 17 points and Kyle Ames added 15 as the Seahawks (2-3) downed the Mustangs (0-5) at Boothbay Harbor.
Hunter Richardson scored 11 of his 20 points in the fourth as the Mustangs tried to rally with a 28-15 run.
GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 57, ST. DOMINIC 28: John Martin had 14 points to pace the Patriots (3-2) as they doubled up the Saints (0-4) at Auburn.
John Henry Villanueva added nine points in a balanced offense for Gray-New Gloucester.
BRUNSWICK 58, LEAVITT 33: Josh Dorr scored 16 points and Nathan Benoit added 12 as the Dragons (3-2) downed the Hornets (0-5) at Turner.
GREELY 96, MORSE 50: Ryan Twitchell scored 25 points and the host Rangers (6-0) pulled away in the second half with a 58-27 edge over the Shipbuilders (1-4).
Jordan Bagshaw and Matt McDevitt each scored 14 points for Greely.
Dakota Freeman scored 16 points for Morse. Parker Onorato added 12.
HOCKEY
YORK 6, NOBLE/WELLS 4: Tommy Carr had two goals and two assists, and the Wildcats (3-0) scored the final four goals to rally past Noble/Wells (1-3) at Dover, New Hampshire.
Carr and Henry McCaddin scored in a span of 23 seconds early in the third to give York a 5-4 lead.
Evan Whitten had three goals for the Knights.
FALMOUTH 3, CAPE ELIZABETH 1: Louis Mainella scored on a power play just 1:22 into the first period, and the Yachtsmen (3-0-1) went on to defeat the Capers (0-2) at Cross Insurance Arena.
Reece Armitage and David Hawkes also had goals for Falmouth. Alex Glidden scored for Cape Elizabeth.
BRUNSWICK 8, WINSLOW 5: The Dragons (1-3-1) scored four goals in the third to beat visiting Winslow (0-2).
After Logan Denis put Winslow ahead at 3:02 of the third, Brunswick got goals from Michael Deveaux, Jared Hummer, Quinn Solberg and Jacob Doring.
CHEVERUS 6, ST. DOMINIC 1: The Stags (2-2) received goals from six players and easily got past the Saints (2-1) at Troubh Ice Arena in Portland.
Cam Dube, Marco Giancotti and Ryan McSorley each had a goal and assist.
PORTLAND/DEERING 11, MARSHWOOD/TRAIP ACADEMY/SANFORD 0: Donato Tocci, Cameron Clifford, Jacob Luce and Joseph Herboldsheimer each had two goals as the Bulldogs (4-0) beat the Hawks (1-3) at Troubh Arena.
