BIDDEFORD—Bruce S. Nelson, 64, of Biddeford, passed away on Nov. 8, 2016, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Biddeford, the son of Maurice and Virginia (White) Nelson, on June 26, 1952. Bruce grew up in an extended family made up of grandparents, aunts, uncles, many cousins, and lifelong friends. He lived most of his life by the ocean, both at Hills Beach and Fortune Rocks. He had a special affinity for the sea and all things coastal, enjoying the sun on his face, the sea breeze, the smell of the ocean, and the seagulls and other sea birds flying and scampering around. He was educated in Biddeford schools, and at St. Francis College.

He was very interested in politics, meteorology, maps, and vintage movies. He loved and cared for all animals. Though we was a private soul, he loved and thrived being with his friends and family.

Bruce was predeceased by his mother and father, his brother Eric, and his aunt, Elaine White.

He is survived by his sister, Susan Schuyler, of Biddeford and her husband, Bruce, his sister, Debra Nelson of Saco, and her husband, Brian Nadeau, his niece, Lauren Schuyler Giddings and her husband, Harvey, his great nephew, Harvey, his great niece, Maisie, and the Stephen White family of Dedham, Massachusetts.
