BIDDEFORD — Robert R. Gagnon, 88, of Biddeford died Friday, Nov. 4, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Portland. 

He was born May 26, 1928 in Biddeford, a son of Wilfred and Louisia (Dubois) Gagnon, and was educated locally, graduating from St. Louis High School in the Class of 1946.

Robert served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.  On Sept. 8, 1958 he married Gilberte Laroche in St. Andre Church. He was employed as an electrician and planner with the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for 32 years, retiring in 1985.

Robert enjoyed gardening and spending time at Bunganut Lake in Lyman with his family and friends. He was also an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gilberte T. Gagnon of Biddeford, two daughters, Diane Laverriere and her husband, Peter, of Biddeford, and Joanne Gadbois and her husband, Kenneth, of Ellington, Connecticut; six grandchildren Heather, Eric, Nathan and Katie Laverriere, Jennifer Iordachescu and her husband, Constantin, and Allison Gadbois; one great-grandson, Maks, a brother, Raymond Gagnon of Biddeford; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford 04005. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Church in Biddeford. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford.
