York emergency responders say they may have saved a man’s life when an officer and a rescue worker administered two doses of Narcan to the man, who had apparently overdosed on heroin.
Sgt. John Lizanecz said the 34-year-old man was unresponsive when authorities arrived around 11:37 p.m. Tuesday.
Lizanecz said the man was revived when the officer and the rescue worker gave him two doses of nalaxone, also known as Narcan. He was later taken to York Hospital and treated for a drug overdose.
The man was charged with unlawful possession of a scheduled drug. The man’s name is not being released because the case remains under investigation. He is scheduled to appear in York District Court on Dec. 20.
York police said Tuesday’s overdose came just a few days after a 40-year-old man suffered a drug overdose at 8 Chases Pond Road in York. Police said the man died of an apparent heroin-related overdose on Oct. 7. The investigation continues and York police welcome any additional information or tips. Tips can be left with Seacoast Crime Stoppers at 439-1199 or by logging on to www.seacoastcrimestoppers.org.
Rewards are being offered for information that leads to an arrest or indictment.
