The following is a schedule of events for October at Curtis Memorial Library, located at 23 Pleasant St., Brunswick.

• Collaboratory Interactive Display: Animal Homes and Habits, opens Oct. 7

An interactive exploration of where animals live and why some do the odd things they do. For all ages.

• Twice-Told Tales Quality Used Book Store

Used book store operated by Curtis Friends, proceeds benefit the library. 11 Pleasant St, open Mon – Sat 10 a.m. to 4p.m.

• Craft Meetup — Mondays 4:30-6:30 p.m.

All skill levels are most welcome and beginners will usually be able to get advice from members with more experience.

• Gather Round for Stories — Tuesdays 10:30-11 a.m.

Join one of the library’s wonderful volunteers for stories old and new.

Fandom Club at BHS — Tuesdays 2:15-3:15 p.m.

The Brunswick High School Book Club has evolved and powered up into a weekly Fandemonium Club. Come to the Brunswick High School Library and do stuff afterschool, whether it’s play games, discuss what you’ve read, make stuff, watch movies, whatever. Each week will be something different. At Brunswick High School.

Story Time — Wednesdays 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Stories, songs and activities for preschoolers. Promotes early literacy through reading, writing, talking, playing and singing. For ages 2-4.

• BJHS 7th & 8th Grade Book Club — Wednesdays 2:30-3:30 p.m.

Open to any 7th or 8th grade Brunswick Junior High School or homeschooled student. This is a club where teens choose the books and we play board games in between or while discussing some good reads. Bring your own snacks. At Brunswick Junior High School.

Discussion of current events, open to the public.

• BJHS 6th Grade Book Club — Thursdays 2:45-3:30 p.m.

Music Fun with Miss Teresa — Fridays 10:30– 11:15 a.m.

Lively songs, rhythms and movement with Teresa Gillis, followed by playtime. Supports early literacy development and a love of music. For babies, toddlers and their caregivers.

Friday Afternoon at the Movies: “Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were Rabbit” — Oct. 7 2-3:45 p.m.

Claymation comedy featuring the heroic man-and-dog duo. Suggested for elementary school-ages and up. Rated G. 85 minutes.

Another Time, Another Place Science Fiction Book Group — Oct. 13, 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Monthly science fiction book discussion group. This month we discuss Infomacracy by Malka Older. Everyone who has read the book and would like to discuss it is welcome to attend meetings.

Part of the fall mystery author series. Presentation and book signing by Chris Holm, author of “The Killing Kind” and “Red Right Hand.”

Cornerstones of Science Fall Science Read — Oct. 19, noon to 1 p.m.

Programming around “The Homing Instinct: Meaning and Mystery in Animal Migration” by Bernd Heinrich. Eric Topper of Maine Audubon will give a presentation on “Homing in on our Homes,” an illustrated primer on what people can do in their own yards and public spaces to benefit both migratory and resident wildlife.

I’ll Read Anything Book Group — Oct. 19, 1-2 p.m.

Monthly book group led by director Liz Doucett. This month we discuss Massacre on the Merrimack: Hannah Duston’s Captivity and Revenge on Colonial America by Jay Atkinson.

• Author Event Doug Rooks — Oct. 24, 6-7:30 p.m.

Doug Rooks reads from “Statesman,” his new biography about Senator George Mitchell. The senator’s work on the Clean Air Act is the focus of the reading.

Guided Bird Walk at Mitchell Field — Oct. 25, 8 a.m.

Pumpkin Carving — Oct. 28, 4-5 p.m.

Bring a pumpkin to carve into a jack-o-lantern and we will supply the tools and tasty treats.

Zombie Nerf Turf — Oct. 28, 8:30-10 p.m.
