A Winslow man who was rebuked by a judge who called him a “serial fraudster” was sentenced to 14 months in prison and ordered to pay nearly $27,000 in restitution for wire fraud Wednesday.

Ervin Morrison III, 24, was also sentenced by U.S. District Court judge John A. Woodcock Jr. to three years of supervised release after he serves his prison term.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Morrison promised goods or services to five people and companies and collected $26,900 in advance payments between June 2014 and July 2015, but never had any ability or intention to provide the services or items.

Morrison pleaded guilty to the wire fraud charges in June.

At the sentencing hearing at U.S. District Court in Bangor, Woodcock said Morrison’s life was “a series of frauds” and demonstrated a “stunning display of amorality.”
