The Wells and Kennebunk soccer teams have completed the first chunk of their schedules and are now entering the midseason grind, hoping to make one final push towards the playoffs.

The Rams jumped out to a solid 4-3-1 start to begin the season, good enough to claim the sixth seed in the Class A South conference.

Kennebunk fields one of the youngest teams in the conference, with many of it’s contributors being underclassman.

Senior lead Brenden Whitten has like what he has seen from the younger players so far.

“I think we’re starting to roll in the right direction,” said Whitten. “We’re a young team but kids are growing up really fast.”

Wells has experienced a great deal of roster turnover from last season, with many of last year’s starters graduated. “Our season looks very promising in spite of the fact that we lost our entire starting midfield,” said Wells coach Patrick Udeh. “We are also playing the toughest schedule since I have been involved with the program. (I’m encouraged) because we are returning our attackers and we have been working hard with our freshmen and last year’s JV players.”

Despite losing a number of core players, the Warriors jumped to a 3-4-1 start and are still hopeful of claiming a final playoff spot.

The two squads faced off in Wells last week, with the Rams prevailing in a 6-1 victory.
