DURHAM, N.H. — Dalton Crossan rushed for a career-high 199 yards and two touchdowns, and New Hampshire won its first game in its new stadium, beating Holy Cross 39-28 on Saturday night.
Trevor Knight’s 62-yard pass to Rory Donovan with 1:17 left in the third quarter gave the Wildcats (1-1) their first lead at 32-28. New Hampshire was deep in Holy Cross territory in the fourth quarter without scoring before Casey DeAndrade returned an interception 28 yards with 2:25 remaining.
Peter Pujals hit 42 of 64 passes for 427 yards and three touchdowns for Holy Cross (1-1).
ALBANY 35, RHODE ISLAND 7: Elijah Ibitokun-Hanks ran for three touchdowns as the Great Danes (2-0, 1-0 Colonial Athletic Association) cruised past the Rams (0-2, 0-1) in Kingston, Rhode Island.
James Madison 56, CENTRAL CONNECTICUT STATE 21: Bryan Schor threw three touchdown passes as the Dukes (2-0) rolled over the Blue Devils (0-2) in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
Schor was 16-of-20 passing for 190 yards. Cardon Johnson ran for 121 yards and two touchdowns.
Khalid Abdullah, who surpassed 2,000 career rushing yards, caught an 11-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter and ran for another score in the second to help give the Dukes a 35-7 advantage at halftime.
Rashard Davis scored on a 75-yard punt return to make it 42-7 in the third quarter.
TEMPLE 38, STONY BROOK 0: Phillip Walker threw three touchdown passes, two to Keith Kirkwood, and the Owls (1-1) crushed the Seawolves (1-1) in Philadelphia.
Temple (1-1) last blanked an opponent on Sept. 20, 2014, beating Delaware State, 59-0.
RUTGERS 52, HOWARD 14: Janarion Grant scored three touchdowns and the Scarlet Knights (1-1) overcame an early scare against the Bison (0-2), giving Coach Chris Ash his first win, in Piscataway, New Jersey.
Grant resurrected Rutgers from a 14-0 first-quarter deficit with an 84-yard kickoff return, and he was in the center of a 21-point third quarter with touchdown runs of 58 and 21 yards.
ARMY 31, RICE 14: Andy Davidson rushed for 107 yards and three touchdowns, the Army defense created two turnovers, and the Black Knights (2-0) beat the Owls (0-2) in West Point, New York.
It had been 70 games since Army (2-0) won two straight, and it’s the first time the Black Knights have started a season with two straight wins since 1996.
NAVY 28, CONNECTICUT 24: Will Worth scored two touchdowns in his debut as Navy’s starting quarterback, and the Midshipmen (2-0, 1-0 American Athletic Conference) survived a hectic finish after blowing a 21-point lead against the Huskies (1-1, 0-1) in Annapolis, Maryland.
