Maritime Reflections, a collaborative exhibit of photographs by members of the First Light Camera Club and paintings, prints and drawings by Points of View artists, opened on Aug. 1 at Points of View Art Gallery in the Brunswick Business Center. A reception to meet the artists is this evening from 5- 8 p.m.
The theme was designed to provide exhibit artists opportunities to reflect on Maine’s maritime past and nautical heritage, as well as on the environmental, recreational and unique dining advantages of coastal living
Seventeen photographers from First Light Camera Club have submitted photographs for this joint show. The 14 artists of Points of View are offering work depicting their interpretations of the maritime theme. Several POV artists are created images inspired by and reflecting on photographs submitted by First Light members.
Founded in 1990, the First Light Camera Club offers biweekly programs that include image critiques, field trips, tech nights and one-onone mentoring. Their meeting schedule and sample member galleries are posted on their website at firstlightcc.com.
Points of View Artists formed in 2004 and hold monthly critique meetings. Since 2006 they have exhibited their work at the Brunswick Business Center and participated in Brunswick’s Art Walk season. POV’s website is povartistsmaine.com
Featured in the Garret Gallery during August is Dialogue in Collage by POV artists Ann Slocum and Alan Mast.
