The Boston Red Sox postponed a David Ortiz bobblehead promotion scheduled for Tuesday because the bobbleheads were deemed “racially insensitive,” according to news reports.

The team had planned to give the bobbleheads to the first 15,000 fans entering Fenway Park before Tuesday’s game against the New York Yankees, but scrapped the idea after examining the shipment of the bobbleheads.

“I thought the bobbleheads were an inaccurate portrayal of David,” said Red Sox president Sam Kennedy. “To go further, I thought the facial features were racially insensitive.”

Instead, the Red Sox plan to order newly designed Ortiz bobbleheads and give them to fans who have a ticket to Tuesday’s game.
