PAN FRIED STEEL performs Saturday at 6 p.m. in Bath Waterfront Park as part of the Summer Saturday Concert Series.
The Chocolate Church Arts Center continues their musical line up for the Summer Saturday Concert Series in August. Each Saturday evening through Aug. 27, there will be live entertainment in the Bath waterfront park at 6 p.m.
The Summer Saturday Concert Series has become a destination event, attracting visitors who enjoy dinner, explore local stores and listen to the performers. People of all ages bring blankets or lawn chairs and pack snacks or bring dinner for an evening of live entertainment at no cost.
On Aug. 6, Pan Fried Steel will fill the park with sounds of calypso and reggae. Pan Fried Steel is a community steel band with a diverse repertoire including calypso, reggae, soca, Latin, swing and covers from Charlie Parker to Jimmy Buffett to CCR.
The following week on Aug. 13, Snappdragon, a four-piece band whose members are well-seasoned performers from the Midcoast area, will perform. They cover several genres from bluesy ballads to rock and roll blended with vocal harmonies, double percussion, keyboard and acoustic and electric guitar.
On Aug. 20, the series continues with Heather Pierson, an award-winning pianist, multi-genre singer/songwriter, arranger, bandleader, and performer. From New Orleans-style jazz and blues to Americana and folk narratives, Pierson’s live performances feature piano, vocals and a tenor banjo, melodica or acoustic guitar.
The 2016 summer concert series concludes with Max Ater on Aug. 27 who, at age 23, performs a variety of original songs (and a few unique covers) throughout New England with his band. Ater is the winner of Maine’s Got Talent 2012 and more recently, the Vox Pop award from the Independent Music Awards. This year, Ater will be joined by bassist Dan Bodmer and Drummer Drew Weber.
The Concerts are free admission. Although the Chocolate Church typically programs from their 1847 repurposed church, this is the third summer for off-site concerts. In case of rain, the concerts will be staged at the Chocolate Church Arts Center located at 804 Washington St. in Bath.
