DAMARISCOTTA

“The Tempest,” Williams Shakespeare’s final play, will be performed in Damariscotta’s Poe Theater beginning Friday and running through July 23.

On the cusp of leaving London and the world of theater, Shakespeare penned “The Tempest” just before entering another reality — the world of home and family. “The Tempest” mirrors Shakespeare’s journey at this point in time — with themes of letting go, leaving behind the power of the pen and finding redemption through mercy and forgiveness.
