PARIS, Maine — A Maine fire chief is facing charges of criminal trespassing and other offenses stemming from a bear-hunting excursion last fall in the town of Hartford.
The Sun Journal reports that Norman St. Pierre, 53, will appear July 11 in Oxford County Unified Court to answer to a slew of misdemeanor charges that include several weapons offenses.
Maine State Game Warden Tony Gray filed a complaint accusing the West Paris fire chief of unlawfully entering a property during bear-hunting season in November.
St. Pierre allegedly destroyed a no-trespassing sign on the plot and later discharged a firearm within 100 yards of a residence without permission.
Interim Town Manager Wade Rainey says potential disciplinary action against St. Pierre depends upon the outcome of the case.
St. Pierre’s attorney declined to comment.
