It seems that these days we are all too often made aware of difficult situations that require our time and attention to resolve, but every once in a while, we also have an opportunity to celebrate a success, and the event on June 8th, for me, was one of those times.
I was present at the Cancer Care Center of York County’s open house to see the new Linear Accelerator installation and, I must say, it is very impressive equipment, as is the entire installation and personnel.
I would like to thank Karen Pierce-Stewart, executive director, Bob Hardison, board chair, Cancer Care Center of York County; and Edward McGeachey, president and CEO, Southern Maine Health Care, for their leadership regarding this entire project as well as their team for their careful attention to detail and especially cost.
This facility and all that it offers represents the best of what we are all trying to do. I want to personally thank Bill Caron, chief executive officer, Maine Health, and Richard Petersen, president and CEO, Maine Medical Center, for their continued support and particularly for allowing this wonderful asset to be located in Sanford, where it showcases our commitment to the community as well as all of Southern Maine .
