AUGUSTA – Maine’s Republican Gov. Paul LePage said Tuesday he would be attending a rally in Bangor on Wednesday for presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.
LePage previously stood with Trump and endorsed his campaign during a Portland appearance in March.
“Yes, yes, yes, I can’t wait to come up and help cheer him on in any way I can,” LePage said when asked by Bangor’s WVOM talk radio host Ric Tyler. LePage said he believed, based on the Portland appearance, Trump would draw a large crowd to Maine’s third largest city.
“He’s a magnet for people; people love to listen to him, I look forward to seeing him,” LePage said. “He’s a personality of his own as we all know and I look forward to seeing him.”
LePage has previously quipped he would take an appointment in the Trump administration if offered but the post he wants is ambassador to Canada in the summer and ambassador to Jamaica in the winter.
Trump announced the campaign stop in Bangor on Monday. His campaign said he’ll appear at Cross Insurance Center at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
