There was an interesting and potentially useful account in your June 7 edition about ATM “skimming” in York County (Page B1).

However, since there was only a short sentence in the article about how to protect yourself against this fraud, it may leave readers afraid to use any ATM at all. They can find complete details about how to defend yourself by asking Google about “ATM skimming defenses.”

Banks should give this information to their customers, but my bank doesn’t, and financial institutions may be loath to admit that the problem exists.
