Munjoy fest for families

The Munjoy Hill Neighborhood Organization will hold a Family Festival from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday on the Eastern Promenade by the playground.

There will be bouncy houses, a slide, games, free popcorn, arts and crafts, face painting, a bubble presentation and a variety of food vendors.

Rain date is Sunday.

Concert to benefit library

Award-winning singer-songwriter Connor Garvey will perform a benefit concert for the town library at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Spring Hill Restaurant, 117 Pond Road.

Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. They are being sold at the South Berwick Public Library at 27 Young St., at South Berwick Pharmacy and at brownpapertickets.com.

Peonies and ice cream

Maine Audubon will host its annual Peony Bloom & Ice Cream Social from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Gilsland Farm Audubon Center.

Toots Ice Cream and live music from the Sea Slugs will be featured. There also will be children’s crafts, face painting and more.

Admission is free for Audubon members and $7 for all others.

Learning to avoid scams

State Sen. Cathy Breen and state Rep. Teresa Pierce will present the talk “How to Protect Yourself from Scams,” an AARP Fraud Fighter Workshop, at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Mason-Motz Activity Center, at 190 Middle Road.

Attendees will receive a fraud prevention guide.

Seafaring history events

To celebrate the area’s shipbuilding heritage during the Launch! Festival, the Brick Store Museum will present special programs focusing on the area’s seafaring past.

At 7 p.m. Friday, musician Monica Grabin will perform her singing history “Cotton and Cod” in the museum’s Program Center at 4 Dane St. Tickets are $5 for museum members and $10 for all others. They can be purchased in advance (online or at the museum), as well as at the door.

The Shipbuilding Odyssey begins at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Program Center. Guests will take a narrated trolley excursion stopping at various historic locations associated with shipbuilding.

The adventure concludes at 1 p.m. back at the museum, where guests can sample clam chowder by Alisson’s Restaurant and other refreshments and receive a commemorative souvenir. Reservations are required and tickets are $25 to $35. Reservations are due by Tuesday by calling 985-4802 or going to brickstoremuseum.org/programs.
