I know Laurie Dobson, Democratic candidate in Maine House District 9, for her willingness to take on challenging issues.

She’s consistently been in the forefront of progressive approaches to difficult political situations. She has the tenacity to keep going, take the people’s fight forward and maintain her focus.

One of Laurie’s priorities, which I find critical, is banking reform. She’s long called for the return of Glass-Steagall, which would relieve American taxpayers from again bailing out the big Wall Street banks for their risky investment gambles that compromise the security of our financial system and strain local economies.

In 2007, as a U.S. Senate candidate, Laurie Dobson warned about the impending financial collapse. It was an unwelcome message, but proved prescient.

Laurie is an award-winning community organizer, but her willingness to stand up to powerful special interests is what would make her a particularly valuable contribution to the Maine Legislature.
