I spent my gap year(s) fixing missiles for the Strategic Air Command in Michigan. Where did you spend yours?

It might have been a lot more fun learning how to order wine in France, baking bread in Italy or even studying dung beetles in Africa, but those weren’t options I was offered. It was promised that I could get drafted. Well, that narrowed my choices.

But, long story short, I did attend the University of Massachusetts four years after my high school classmates, under a special veterans’ program. Better late than never, as they say.
