
She was born in Biddeford on May 12, 1933, a daughter of Ozea and Lydia (Poisson) Houde. She graduated from Thornton Academy, Class of 1952. On Jan. 26, 1957, Laurette married her husband, Aime F. Labbe, in Saco.
She was employed by various local shoe shops for many years, retiring from Westpoint Peperrell in 1995.
Laurette was an avid New England sports fan. She enjoyed time with her friends, bingo and going to Old Orchard Beach for pizza and fries. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Aime, on Jan. 23, 2011; three brothers, Albert, Paul and Reggie Houde; and five sisters, Urika “Rita” Picard, Anita Goolsby, Marguerite Bouchard, Theresa LaSante and Carmen Cote.
She is survived by: three children, Priscilla L. Simoneau and her husband Leo of Biddeford, David J. Labbe and his girlfriend Maribeth Irish of New Gloucester, and Lucille Gooch and her husband William of Saco; five grandchildren, Scott, Matthew, Meaghan, Eric and Dylan; three brothers, Raymond Houde and his wife Jeannette, Gerard Houde, and Robert Houde and his wife Sonia; three sisters, Pauline Levesque, Doris Vail and Lucille Reed; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, at Cote Funeral Home, 87 James St., Saco. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 26, at St. Margaret’s Church in Old Orchard Beach. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford. Arrangements are by Cote Funeral Home, Saco.
