HARRISBURG, Pa. — The Portland Sea Dogs opened an early three-run lead and held on defeat the Harrisburg Senators 5-4 to end their three-game losing streak Tuesday night at FNB Field.

The Sea Dogs (16-28) scored twice in the first on sacrifice flies by Andrew Benintendi and Aneury Tavarez.

Sean Coyle homered in the third inning, his second of the year, to stretch the lead to 3-0.

The Senators (22-21) answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth as Shawn Pleffner lined a two-run single to right, driving in Neftali Soto and Zach Collier.

Portland regained its two-run cushion with two runs in the sixth as Rainel Rosario hit a sac fly to center field to score Ryan Court and Taverez later scored on a fielder’s choice from Ali Solis.

A towering line-drive home run from Pleffner in the seventh inning narrowed the Sea Dogs’ lead back to a run.

Keith Couch went six innings for Portland, improving to 3-0. He allowed four earned runs on six hits, struck out five and walked three.

Mitch Atkins had a scoreless ninth to record his second save of the year.
