Most people do not know that 40 percent of Maine gun sales don’t go through a background check. Other New England states have tightened their gun purchasing laws, so now Maine has become the place to buy guns easily.
If you would like to learn more about this issue, on Saturday, May 21 at 10 a.m. in Kennebunk Town Hall, 1 Summer St., Kennebunk, the new Maine Chapter of Grandmothers Against Gun Violence (GAGV-ME) will hold an informational meeting.
After a brief presentation about GAGV, a guest speaker, Debbie Atwood from Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense, will discuss this fall’s expanded background check referendum.
