A Falmouth man was in critical condition at Maine Medical Center from injuries he sustained when his truck veered off the roadway and struck a tree in Arundel around noon Wednesday, the York County Sheriff’s Office said.

York County deputies and Arundel Fire and Rescue personnel responded the crash on Alfred Road (Route 111) at about noon, the office said in a statement.

The driver, 46-year-old Anthony Mastroluca of Falmouth, was found unconscious and partially ejected from the vehicle, officials said.

Mastroluca had been driving west in a 2003 Dodge 2500 pickup truck when it left the roadway and struck the tree. He was transported to Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford and then transferred to the Maine Medical Center in Portland, which said he was in critical condition Wednesday night.

The cause of the crash had yet to be determined as of Wednesday evening, the Sheriff’s Office said.
