BIDDEFORD — Barry A. Murphy, 75, of Biddeford, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 2, 2016, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.

He was born on Sept. 21, 1940, a son of John and Alice (Murphy) Murphy. On May 19, 1984, he married Lucille A. Gagne.

Barry served his country in the United States Army. Upon returning home, he obtained his GED in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

He was an avid runner, participating in marathons. He also enjoyed bike riding, and he could often be found working on projects around his home.

He is survived by: his wife, Lucille (Gagne) Murphy; three sons, John and his wife Debbie, Thomas and his wife Susan, and Barry and his wife Abby; one daughter, Nancy; one stepdaughter, Dawn; and nine grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 6, at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford. Arrangements are under the care of Cote Funeral Home, Saco.
